Breaking the mold, one ascent at a time, the fearless women of Yosemite.
Valley of Giants is the first-ever anthology dedicated to the women who have shaped Yosemite climbing history.
Edited by Lauren DeLaunay Miller, the book features nearly 40 contributors from early pioneers like Bea Vogel, who forged her own pitons, to Molly Higgins who participated in the first all-female ascent of the Nose on El Capitan to Liz Robbins who established routes in Yosemite Valley during the Golden Age. Astonishing Stonemasters like Lynn Hill, as well as many other notable climbers, including Steph Davis, Kate Rutherford, Beth Rodden, Chelsea Griffie, Libby Sauter, and more share their recollections of the exhilaration they felt up on the wall and the determination it took to get there.
The collection spans five distinct eras, offering a collection of voices that highlight the challenges, triumphs, and evolving roles of women in the climbing community.
Through journal excerpts, original essays, interviews, and archival materials, this anthology provides fresh perspectives on what it means to call Yosemite Valley "home."
