A definitive guide to the wild and remote cliffs of West Pembrokeshire, offering adventurous climbing in a dramatic coastal setting.
Pembroke Volume 2: West, published by the Climbers’ Club in 2013, is the second volume in the Pembroke series, covering the remote and rugged cliffs stretching from Milford Haven to St. David’s Head. With over 1,000 routes, this guide captures the untamed character of the west coast, where the limestone of the south gives way to striking igneous cliffs and wave-battered headlands. The climbing here ranges from accessible cragging to serious multi-pitch adventures in committing locations. Less travelled than the popular southern venues, the West offers solitude, wild beauty, and superb climbing in a unique maritime environment.

Access Note:
Access is dependent on all visiting climbers attending a mandatory safety briefing, which explains how to navigate the area without disturbing or endangering themselves on unexploded ordnance left from military exercises. These briefings are essential for maintaining both climber safety and continued access. If you want to visit keep an eye on the BMC website as there are a limited number of briefings each year.
